چکیده
This paper studies a spiking neuron circuit with triangular base signal. The circuit can output rich spike-trains and the dynamics can be analyzed using a one-dimensional piecewise linear map. This system exhibits period doubling bifurcation, tangent bifurcation, super-stable periodic orbit bifurcation and so on. These phenomena can be characterized based on the inter-spike intervals. Using the maps, we can analyze the phenomena precisely. By presenting a simple test circuit, typical phenomena are confirmed experimentally. key words: spiking neurons, bifurcation, chaos

Rich dynamics of pulse-coupled spiking neurons with a triangular base signal
This paper presents a spiking neuron circuit with a triangular base signal. The circuit can output rich pulse-trains and the dynamics can be analyzed using a piecewise linear one-dimensional pulse-position map. Applying cross-switching to two neurons we construct a pulse-coupled system whose dynamics can be integrated into a composite map of the pulse position maps of two neurons. The composite...
متن کاملArtificial Spiking Neurons and Analog-to-Digital-to-Analog Conversion
This paper studies encoding/decoding function of artificial spiking neurons. First, we investigate basic characteristics of spiketrains of the neurons and fix parameter value that can minimize variation of spike-train length for initial value. Second we consider analog-to-digital encoding based upon spike-interval modulation that is suitable for simple and stable signal detection. Third we pres...
متن کاملAnalysis of Composite Dynamics of Two Bifurcating Neurons
This paper presents pulse-coupled two bifurcating neurons. The single neuron is represented by a spike position map and the coupled neurons can be represented by a composition of the spike position maps. Using the composite map, we can analyze basic bifurcation phenomena and can find some interesting phenomena that are caused by the pulse-coupling and are impossible in the single neuron. Presen...
متن کاملSimplified models of pacemaker spiking in raphe and locus coeruleus neurons
Many central neurons, and in particular certain brainstem aminergic neurons exhibit spontaneous and fairly regular spiking with frequencies of order a few Hz. A large number of ion channel types contribute to such spiking so that accurate modeling of spike generation leads to the requirement of solving very large systems of differential equations, ordinary in the first instance. Since analysis ...
متن کاملMechanism of bistability: tonic spiking and bursting in a neuron model.
Neurons can demonstrate various types of activity; tonically spiking, bursting as well as silent neurons are frequently observed in electrophysiological experiments. The methods of qualitative theory of slow-fast systems applied to biophysically realistic neuron models can describe basic scenarios of how these regimes of activity can be generated and transitions between them can be made. Here w...
